Adobe house (earth - based)
This 50 m² building is made of 90 percent natural and locally sourced materials. Its structure uses earthen blocks, a wooden roof with clay tiles, and interior walls built with the bahareque technique and lime finishes. During warm days it stays cool, and in cold weather it retains heat throughout the night. Its integrated system includes rainwater harvesting, wastewater treatment and infiltration, an ecological dry toilet, and a solar water heater.
Superadobe house (earthbag-based)
A 45 m² building designed for up to three people, built using the earthbag construction technique with 60 percent natural and locally sourced materials. It features ecological dry toilets, a rainwater harvesting system, wastewater treatment and infiltration, and a solar water heater. A highly practical and safe option for small, sustainable dwellings.
I’m a city dweller, and as I grow and learn more, I realize how little I truly know about natural ways of building and producing food. Coming here as a volunteer allowed me to “go back in time” and experience how amazing it can be to bring my own project to life. I’m deeply grateful to the founders for opening their doors to everyone.
